Every day, the City Connector Bus provides an essential service for people who visit and live in our city, linking residents, visitors, and tourists alike to where they need to go at no cost. Sadly, lack of investment means that the City Connector Bus is infrequent and has limited operating hours. People for Public Transport is campaigning to expand the service and improve its frequency so that we can ease congestion and reduce transport costs for everyone who visits or lives in the city.
The Problem
The City Connector service is made up of two bus routes: Route 98, which takes passengers through the CBD and North Adelaide, and Route 99 which loops through the Adelaide CBD.
Route 98 operates at a 30-minute frequency 7 days a week between 7 am and 7 pm (with later 9:30 am starts on Sundays) and Route 99 operates every 30 minutes on weekdays, but not at all on weekends.
Last year, our survey of public transport users revealed that infrequent service is the largest barrier for people who want to take the bus. Meanwhile, Adelaide continues to grow, putting further strain on main roads and city streets while investment in public transport fails to keep up. People visiting and living in the city deserve high-quality public transport options.
People for Public Transport is calling on the State Government to:
But for our campaign to be successful, we need your help. Let’s show Transport Minister Tom Koutsantonis that Adelaide deserves a City Connector Bus that works for everyone, every day of the week.
